Santorini produces a lot of high
quality WINES. The most famous
is NIKTERI the traditional white
wine of Santorini, with high
alcohol degree and strong
character, which matures for 6
months in oak barrels. Another
characteristic wine is VISANTO
made of the varieties Asyrtico
and Aidani.
The grapes are sun dried for
10-15 days and stay in the oak
barells for 5 years.

Visit the
ancient city and admire the houses with the famous wall
paintings at Akrotiri excavations that have been covered
by the volcanic lava, and brought into light in 1967 by
the archeologist Spyros Marinatos.
The NEW
MUSEUM at Fira city exhibits a very interesting collection with the latest
discoveries from the excavations. |
